Often described as an art and a science, nursing is a profession that embraces dedicated people with varied interests, strengths and passions because of the many opportunities the profession offers. As nurses, we work in emergency rooms, school based clinics, and homeless shelters, to name a few. We have many roles – from staff nurse to educator to nurse practitioner and nurse researcher – and serve all of them with passion for the profession and with a strong commitment to patient safety.
National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Visit the NNW History page for more information!

A Record Setting Day for CMS
CMS Earns a Certificate of Excellence from the Chesapeake Registry and the Maryland Hospital Association!
We have achieved a 98% (highest score given by the Chesapeake Registry) in a recent audit in the travel nursing category. This reflects our very high standards regarding screening of applicants and current required compliance and credentialing for all health care providers working in Maryland hospitals. Thank you to our clinical staff who make our job easier by keeping current with all the required compliance requested. Congrats to the whole CMS team for all of the hours of hard work necessary to achieve this recognition.

Join CMS At The Yard for a Fundraiser
& help us support NAMI and the Baltimore Orioles!
Come on out on May 18th to help CMS support the National Alliance of Mental Illness and our Orioles! The O's will be playing the Rays at 4:05p and we are getting together a group to enjoy the bleacher section for the game. We will also be participating in a Walk that morning in the Inner Harbor at 11:00 followed by a lunch/happy hour leading up to the game at Mother's. Proceeds from the walk, the lunch/happy hour, and O's ticket sales will be donated to NAMI.

Celebrating 6 years of dedicated CMS service!
Please join us as we send warm congrats to David Myers who is celebrating his 6th year of service for CMS. In his current position as Director of Hiring and Personnel, David has had the opportunity to meet most of our full time clinical staff. He brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm for what he does everyday! We are so appreciative for all of David’s efforts on our behalf! Congrats, David.
Ski Trip at 7 Springs!
More than 50 CMSers and their families traveled to Seven Springs Ski Resort in Champion, PA the first weekend in March. The weather conditions were excellent for skiers and snowboarders alike. It snowed throughout the entire weekend with 4-5 inch accumulation before we left on Sunday afternoon! Everyone enjoyed our ski-in ski-out accommodations right at the base of the mountain. The newly refurbished rooms were great! The entire group has already requested to return again next year, so mark your calendars now for March 2014! Check out a few Kodak moments from the weekend!

The admin team celebrated in style with the 1st annual Chessie awards!
The CMS Administrative team enjoyed an office luncheon on December 17, 2012 at Joe’s Crab Shack in HuntValley. A special thanks to Kate Semler who organized the event and presided over the “Chessie” awards that were presented to each team member. Mimicking “The Office” personality of Michael Scott was our very own Jeff McClure – check out the red blazer and slicked back hair. Jeff wins an Academy Award for his Michael Scott imitation as he handed out the Chessie trophies. Be sure to check out the holiday hats and ugly sweaters we actually wore in a public place! The next time you call the office, just ask the HR/scheduling/finance team member which Chessie award they won! Happy holidays to all and check out the pictures HERE!
