CHC Implements Leading Software Technology
Enhancing our Home Care service to the next level!
Home Care by its very definition helps people to age in place. In addition, home care technology provides essential tools to permit aging in place. Chesapeake Home Care has integrated a new technology to provide higher accountability and transparency to track all the details of each interaction with your loved one. This new technology will assure access to compassionate and consistent care across the continuum.
Telephony and GPS Time Cards – these new features allow us to verify our caregivers' locations through GPS or Telephony tracking as they call in/log-in to ensure their timely arrival at our clients home as well as tracking all the days activities electronically.
The Family Portal feature allows our clients to view their upcoming schedule, to see which caregivers are scheduled, view past scheduled shifts, and communicate through the message board. You will also find copies of all paperwork signed during the initial intake under the "Documents" tab. Each family member can register to access the portal! Read on for more details. Details...
Baltimore's 50 Women to Watch
features CMS' very own Toni Torsch!
The Baltimore Sun nominated 50 women to watch for 2014 - one of whom is CMS' Toni Torsch! From the editor of the story, Anne Tallent: “These are women who are very invested in Baltimore, and there is a lot of good being done out there,” she said. “Whether in advocacy or the arts or nonprofits or science and technology, they are making Baltimore a better place.” Tony's story is a compelling one. She has turned her grief of losing a young son to an accidental overdose into a commitment of sparing another mothers similar loss. She has created the Daniel Torsch Foundation whose mission is to provide drug overdose prevention and awareness. Toni has earned a reputation for influencing drug policy in Annapolis. She hopes to increase funding for drug treatment. Tickets are available at our office for the fall fundraiser/shrimp & bull roast to be held on November 21st to support the Daniel Torsch Foundation. Please feel free to join us that evening for a great event. Warmest congratulations, Toni! One of Baltimore's top 50 women by day, and CMS scheduling coordinator by night!
Pick 3 Winning Lotto Numbers: 9 - 9 - 10
What do you win? A special anniversary!
All of us would like to wish a happy anniversary to a very special, dynamic trio. We appreciate all of their hard work and dedication to CMS: Tammy, our HR & home care angel celebrating 9 years of CMS service, Robin, our pavement pounder and business development director, celebrating a decade of service to CMS, and Cindy, our orientation specialist and credentialing analyst! Congratulations to all, and thank you ladies for your combined 28 years of committed service to CMS.
Wikipedia: The Seven-Year Itch
The seven-year itch is a psychological term that suggests that happiness declines after around year seven of a relationship. Not true in the case of Diane Kowal who is celebrating her 7th year of service to CMS. We appreciate all of her hard work and dedication to CMS. As you walk into our office, Diane will greet you with a smile (and check your file for compliance)! All of us would like to wish Diane a happy work anniversary with CMS and we look forward to many more years to come. Congratulations and thanks!

Chesapeake Medical Staffing would like to extend a warm welcome to our two newest team members, Ivi Franklin and Carrie Adams! Perfect Certification Review from TJC!
CMS receives another perfect audit score from The Joint Commission
The Joint Commission recently conducted their unannounced Certification review for Chesapeake Medical Staffing and had great feedback on our Quality Assurance and Operational processes. Per the reviewer, our reference / evaluation process is in the top 10% of agencies she reviews, and our file management system allowed her to complete her audit extremely efficiently (with zero findings). Formal results from TJC were that as a result of the certification activity conducted, there were no Requirements for Improvement identified, as well as no Opportunities for Improvement identified. Kudos to our Credentialing and Operational teams for their continued focus on hiring only the best clinicians for our clients and making sure our files are always thorough and complete!

Flu Season Is Here!
Make sure to get your flu shot ASAP to keep working
In order to stay compliant with the demands of most area hospitals, schools, surgery centers, and other clients, we urge our staff to get your flu shot as soon as possible. The majority of clients are requiring current staff to have their shot no later than October 31st. And new staff must have their shot before they can start their assignment. If you work at a Medstar facility, a flu shot is mandatory. If you do not want a flu shot, please call our office to see if your current employer requires one. Check your local pharmacies and doctors' offices to get your shot - they should be available now!
Best CPR Instructor in Town!
CMS Thanks our CPR instructor - Scott Parrott
A big shout out to our fantastic CPR instructor Scott Parrott for always running such a great CPR course, in addition to his PALS and ACLS courses. One nurse who attended his most recent class sings his praises:
I just attended a CPR re-certification class with Scott Parrott, last Thursday, July 10th. Call me crazy, but I feel compelled to share my experience and commend Scott for doing such an outstanding job.
For starters, I had an extremely stressful week last week. By Thursday, I was done. As nurses do, I just took a deep breath, put a smile on my face, and rolled with the punches. I have to tell you, it was the best 2 hours of the whole week. There is nothing that I can tell you about Scott that you don’t already know. He is so knowledgeable in emergency medicine, and nursing, alike. He is interactive and engaging and an all around GREAT instructor. However, he is very gifted in his ability to make people laugh which is why I am emailing you. I wanted you to know two things:
First, CMS is extremely fortunate to have and provide an instructor who is endlessly intriguing!
Second, I appreciate his medicinal gift of humor. I don’t know if I learned more, or laughed more. All I do know is that I felt decompressed and really good when I left.I feel very fortunate to work for such phenomenal people like those at CMS.
Thank you again, Scott, from all of us at CMS and your students alike, you are appreciated!
Welcome, Morgan Tome!
Our Contract Team Welcomes its Newest Member
Please join us in welcoming Morgan Tome to our team. Morgan was a Towson Student who worked with CMS as an intern during this year's Spring semester. She graduated in May and joined our team in a full time capacity as a contract and travel specialist. She will be working with Ryan and Dave on communicating the abundant contract opportunities that we have to our interested clinicians and staff. She will be working hard to push CMS into new markets and specialties within the healthcare staffing community. Welcome, Morgan!
