Local Contracts
Local contracts offer the benefits of guaranteed hours and continuity of where you are working. There are two main structures to the contracts we offer.
Acute Care Assignments
ER, ICU, M/S, Telemetry, etc. These are the long-term placements that most hospitals utilize to guarantee coverage and promote continuity in staffing. Acute care assignments are generally thirty-six hours/week and thirteen weeks in length. Advantages to these types of contracts include:
- Condensed schedules and paid overtime – a full time schedule can be achieved in only three days per week. However, any RN that wants to pick up a fourth twelve-hour shift can do so through our agency; you will always be paid time and a half for your overtime.
- Shift differentials – twelve-hour shifts allow the RN to take full advantage of our pay differentials – evening, night, and weekend shifts pay more per hour
- Skill set development – you may have the opportunity to train in a unit where you have never worked. This includes cross-training from ICU to ED or training in a highly specialized units such as the Hyper Baric Chamber Unit at University of Maryland.
Outpatient or Clinic Assignments
There are a number of outpatient facilities and clinics that we work with, mostly located in downtown Baltimore. University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins in particular have a number of these types of units, which frequently have contract requests. These assignments are typically between six and thirteen weeks in duration, with a set schedule - Monday through Friday, eight-hour day shifts. These assignments are extremely popular for a variety of reasons:
- No weekend work – units are usually only open on the weekdays
- No evenings or nights – great schedule when you’re balancing family time and work time
- No holidays – these units are usually closed on holidays, sometimes the day after
- Low patient acuity – true to the name, these units typically deal with outpatients or by-appointment patients
- Shorter shifts – great for RNs who don’t want to work twelve-hour shifts
