Committed to Excellence in Nursing & Allied Health

Our History

Chesapeake Medical Staffing has an established history of success, today serving as one of Maryland’s largest and most respected health care staffing agencies. Founded in 2001 by a team of nursing and staffing management professionals, we have always focused on sourcing the highest quality health care professionals and providing our clients with customer service that is second to none. Our founders served as Registered Nurses in hospitals, as nursing educators, and as employees of health care staffing agencies.  From these experiences, we know what is important to health care professionals and we know that our formula leads to the highest levels of employee satisfaction. Chesapeake Medical Staffing has earned a strong reputation in the health care community and this reputation has made us what we are today.

Terri Weller MS, RN, founder of Chesapeake Medical Staffing, has served as our Chief Clinical Officer since our inception in November of 2001.

In April of 2002, Chesapeake Medical Staffing launched an Allied Health Staffing Division, primarily focused on staffing Radiologic Technologists.

In 2003, we began offering private duty staffing services. Our strong performance and reputation spread quickly into the private care sector, with organizations like the Johns Hopkins Health System choosing to refer their VIP patients to CMS for private duty health care services.

By 2004, CMS had been selected by many Maryland hospitals as a preferred provider of health care staffing services, both in nursing and allied health disciplines.

CMS grew geographically and expanded into Pennsylvania and Delaware in 2005, becoming one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s premier health care staffing organizations.

In the fall of 2006, Chesapeake Medical Staffing achieved the Gold Seal of Approval™ for health care staffing services from The Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospital Organizations. Also in 2006, Perry Limes joined CMS as our Director of Respiratory Care Staffing and expanded our service offerings in our Allied Health Staffing Division to include Respiratory Care Staffing.

In 2007, Chesapeake Medical Staffing achieved milestones of placing over 1000 heath care professionals in more than 100,000 shifts.

CMS expanded its operations in 2008 and moved into our new corporate headquarters in Lutherville, Maryland. In the fall of 2008, CMS passed the JCAHO re-certification audit, meeting 100% of the required standards with no deficits noted. We are proud to maintain our Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval™.

In 2009, CMS continued to expand geographically and began staffing in Washington D.C.  This has opened the door to many great per diem and contract opportunities for clinicians who want to work in our Nation's Capital.

In 2011, Chesapeake Medical Staffing received a residential services license from the State of Maryland and officially launched its Home Care Division.  CMS trains its vast pool of Home Health Aides on site to ensure that one-on-one care in the home is of the highest quality.
